Try setting it per instruction book first ,obviously, but there are lots of things that cause plowing problems.first and foremost is worn shares.but others can be bent beams, moldboards rusty, landslide broken or missing, coulters missing or misadjusted, any number of things.Your right ,you shouldnt need chains or stabilizers, but instruction book should help you with most adjustments. And yes setting the width of cut could make it pull one way or the other.start by making sure you have your tires set correctly!."RULE OF THUMB" if all else fails, center of draft on any moldboard type plow is 1/4th of the width of one bottom to the left of the center of the entire width of the plow while looking from back of plow to front.center of draft should be straight line to center of hitch to make one pull straight.(this is what you set when setting drawbar or width of cut on mounted plow).
