Hello. I am new here so bear with me.
I was having trouble with my 3pt leaking down on my 8n, so I went out to the farm and got the lift cover off a parts 8N. I swapped lift covers because the parts tractor's lift cover in better shape than mine, piston and cylinder included. I got the "new" lift cover installed on my tractor, and now I have questions. I measured the end of the left lift arm where it connects to an implement at full height and it was 28.5" high. It seems my old lift cover lifted higher. I never did measure the old one, So I am just going off memory. I can lift the 2 lift arms by hand a good 6 or 7 inches higher than the lift itself will. I have already loosened the 4 bolts holding the lift quadrant on and scooted it back all the way. It lifted about a half inch higher then. Why is it not going up all the way?
The other question is about the draft control lever. On this "new" lift cover, the 3pt raises and lowers fine in position control, but falls and will not raise up when I switch to draft control. What could be causing this? Also, in position control, there is drag felt when raising the 3pt arms. In draft control, I feel little to no drag. Why does my draft control not work?
