I Know I can get an "Engine Kit" for approx $600 including shipping. That is a major overhaul kit with valve stuff and sleeves and all that. What I am wondering though is, what is the overall cost going to be if I want a 'bullet proof' motor when it is all done. I'm talking redoing the gov, the water pump, having the engine cleaned, and whatever else a machine shop would need to do, then a full rebuild. Anyone done one up recently and have an idear of total cost when all the bills are added up? Just the engine that is. Mine is a '51 8N and it rattles bad and burns oil pretty bad, although it still holds a little oil pressure. Plus it leaks from all 8 corners. On top of all else, it may need a better crankshaft. I think I can price that out though.
I'm not sure what I can get done locally these days. Don't know anything about what machine work the parts houses still do if any. Is there a better way to go?
Mike
