When I did my early '48 8n back in 2003, I probably spent around $2500 for parts, labor, and blood sweat and tears. I did a lot of work myself but had sheet metal outsourced to a local bump shop for painting and the starter and generator went to my buddy's shop for rebuild locally as well. I did nothing with the hydraulic system as it was working fine then. Like stated, it will probably cost you more than it is worth but if you are doing a full restoration, well, we restorers know that going in and do not expect to get a return on our investment if we try to sell when done. Toss into the mix a radiator shop, sandblasting and painting, and gauges-restoring originals will cost about 400-500 bucks alone. John Smith has a tutorial on what he did with some of his projects. Plan on doing the carb, distributor, and air cleaner yourself. HINT: Get engine torn down first to see what parts you will need before ordering a whole engine kit and then realizing you won't need to use half the new parts. My opions of course...
