If you find and fix any tightness problem as it goes together, it saves having to play "Where's Waldo" later. I'd pull all the rod and main bearing caps and start over, turning the crank once each time I torque down a bearing. The rope seals shouldn't add much drag to the crank until you bolt the pan on. If that last step (bolting the pan on) adds a lot of drag to the crank, you probably left the ends of the rope seals too long. That can crack a seal retainer and cause it to leak.
