I agree with Rockbiter and would only use hat rims for a restoration. I've found that water and dirt get inside the hat rims (inside the channel) and rust from the inside out. One set I swapped out were right full of dirt and rust requiring the need to hammer out the mounting bolts, then spent a lot of time trying to get the dirt and rust inside the channel out through the bolt holes. Now you have to be real careful when reinstalling the hat rim back onto the center disk, that you don't over tighten the bolts and crush the rim because it's been weaken by the rust. All my work tractors have the 6 hoop rims as well.
