The rim to center mounting bolts are a BIG factor in being able to get the different combinations as shown in the diagrams the Ed provided.. If they haven't been removed for a long time, you may find it difficult to get them out if you have the original hat rims since they set in with rust so bad. I had to loosen the nut on each one until it was flush with the end of the threads and then using a big hammer and lots of WD-40, drove them through until the nut once again hit the rim center. Then removed the nut and drove them out with a pin punch. Multiply that effort about a dozen times and you can get a good idea of the effort it takes. To go through that process every couple years to get a different width on the rear wouldn't be good. After I drove the old bots out, I could see that the rusting had really taken a toll on the old bolts and throwing them away and getting new bolts was a good idea. I now have the 6-hoop style replacement rims. Much easier to switch around. The only reason I would want the original hat rims is if I was restoring and using the tractor for show rather than use. There will be arguments to the opposite on using the hat rims, I'm sure.
