I had a friend look at my situation today. He had a digital volt meter, which immediately went haywire when he attached it to the tractor while running. (I wanted him to determine if my generator was actually "generating"). Well, he laid his digital meter aside and proceeded to disconnect one of the battery cables. Once the cable was loose - the engine died. He turned to me and said, "your generator is bad".
Is he right? Is that procedure an indication of a bad generator?
