TO35 Steering linkage

I don't know if this question is appropriate for this forum...behind the dash there is a 6 inch connecting linkage that connects the throttle to the disk apparatus for lack of a better term. It has what looks like a spring connector that fits over a nub on the disks and holds it in place. That connector came off the nub and while I put it back on, it doesn't look like it has the spring loading function that holds on to the nub....kind of like the snap on connections for the carburetor on an 8N. I would like to see about repairing it or replacing it...it is tight under there. What is it called (I dont' have a parts manual) so I can see about getting it right.
