There should be a number stamped on the rear flange of your transmission. This number should be close (within a couple hundred) to the serial number on the block. Also your hood is probably from a 1940 or later if it has the hinged door. The "pop in" door was discontinued in early 1940 and the hinged door needed a larger opening for the larger hinged door.
