The past 45 days have been chaotic and no letup is coming soon. My older sister (85) was a kidney patient for years and I visited her in Texas in early September the day after she was placed into hospice. She died a few days after I got home.
She was cremated and her ashes shipped to me for interment next to our parents near Mount Pleasant, Mich. We had a memorial service on Oct 12 near my house and then interment on the 14th, 130 miles away. All of which was up to me to coordinate.
Meantime, my youngest sister (69) was planning a memorial service for our sister in Texas, for family and friends, on Oct 29. Just after leaving the meeting with the pastor she went to her car and her left hand was not functional. She drove 2 hours to get home. GRRR!
Fortunately, her grandson is staying with her while taking welding classes. He is 18 and smart. "Grannie, you are going to ER. RIGHT NOW". He called his mother only after Grannie was admitted. She spent 4 days in the hospital and her MRI said "stroke"...and not her first.
We had already planned to be in Texas next week for that memorial service. She is getting therapy from a traveling nurse.
Now, before all of the above occurred, we had made travel plans in July to be in Texas for youngest sister's surprise 70th birthday in December.
Meantime, I'm noticing my wife having difficulty with memory and repeating things that she said to me an hour before. She has been our household bookkeeper for 58 years. She is forgetting to post entries into our checkbook. I will have to take that task over.
Just trying to relieve some stress.
