I'm pretty far along in the tear-down of my '59 Dexta. Last week I removed most of the parts that were attached to the underside of the lift cover. The right lift arm came off pretty easily, but here is where I am stuck:
After spraying PB Blaster on the cross-shaft and lift arm over the past several days, I used MAPP gas and a puller to try and remove the left lift arm.
So far, the thing hasn't budged. The cross-shaft itself should slide through, anyway, leaving the left arm stuck to it, but it doesn't. The problem is that I can't remove the draft control spring without taking the shaft out.
Is this one of those situations that requires more time and patience? More heat? A bigger puller?
Thank for any advice.
