Just as dangerous, maybe more so, is the effect you get without stays going down a hill with a trailer pushing behind. The drawbar rides up, which actually lifts the rear wheels and unweights them, causing a loss of traction and maybe a runaway tractor with a wagon behind it.
Somebody posted a year or so ago about a guy who was offering or going to offer hayrides to the kids and either his drawbar rode up or he didn't have enough weight in the rear tires or both and the tractor and wagon got away from him and killed him. I am almost sure that I remember that it was a Ford "N".
