Around here, we direct seed okra in late May or by June 1st, the same time we plant butter beans & sweet potatoes. That's 3 - 4 weeks after the last frost. You need to sow the seeds in flats, like tomato plants & then set the plants out. Direct seeding okra much further north than here in VA doesn't get you much.
