Welcome and congratulations on your purchase. From what you described about your steering I would be concerned that you may have a broken tooth on one of the steering sectors. If that is the case you need to be careful as the steering could lock up if there is a broken tooth floating around in there. The 53 Jubilee uses the same style steering box as the late 8N and there are instructions in the how tos for doing a rebuild.
