Everything that Rockbiter said is true , they are a pain in the rear if they haven't been separated in several years, (the dish from the hat rim) lots of rust penetrate & knocking out the bolts, but our '49 hadn't ever been apart & it wasn't so bad with a little patience. We spread it out to plant & cultivate 2rows & top dress my sweet corn & it is much more enjoyable & easier too, If you have a 2 row cultivator that is. But you maybe on narrower rows depending on what your cultivating, different crops have different row widths. this is dad's 49 8N with original hat rims & our Dearborn 2 row spring shank cultivator with Cole fertilizer hoppers Yes different model tractor but same principle. Hope to get this unit switched over to the dearborn fertilizer hoppers soon as we get caught up!
