Hello, Thanks in advance for your responses. Today after working on it on and off for a long time I put a full day into my 8N (6V front mount)with a Woods L306 belly mower and got it going. Mowed a couple acres to find any problems and loosen the new belt up prior to readjusting it. Anyhow the mower is fine but the tractor has a definite whine/screech/rattle. It is at higher rpm and it comes from the front of the engine and when the governor kicked in in the tall grass it decreased in volume considerably.The water pump does have a little play in it. To my touch the generator end plate bearing/bushing did not seem hot. I bought the tractor a few years ago for a mower tractor and never had the rpm up until today so what ever it is I have no history leading up to this noise. Any thoughts on if this would be a governor issue?
