My '50 8n did this for a short time... I found that I had a small sliver of grass or somethig in bottom of carb, in one of the tiny ports.. Once removed and cleaned again, it ran fine.. Barely had to choke to start... I added a new screen at carb and hope it doesn't happen too often..
