buy a tach from a auto supply store. most are adjustable for 4, 6 or 8 cyl. that is only way to know what you are reving to. i have bought an cheap electronic one from northern supply in the past. they work, but you have to be sure to ground the shielding wire wrapped around the pick up wire. pick up is just a wire you wrap around one of the plug wires. then set it for two cycle or 4 cycle operation. the internal battery only lasted three years though. non replaceable. .
