This calculator recommends 25 lb-ft based on a grade 5 bolt in 6061-T6 aluminum (.375 inch of thread engagement) and a k factor of .20 (dry threads). Maximum torque the joint can withstand is 33.7 lb-ft.

If the thread engagement is increased to.5 inch the reconmmended number increases 37.5 lb-ft, maximum of 50 lb-ft.

Using a k factor of .18 (oiled threads) those numbers drop to 25(34) lb-ft dry and 34(45) lb-ft. lubricated.

PS> FWIW pullout strength of UN fine threads is actually slightly greater than the corresponding coarse thread.
