I took the inspection cover off last night...the one with the dipstick. I started the tractor and observed. I saw a stirring motion in the pump area and did not see any drips coming from above. I shut it down. I stuck my hand in the brown ooze of oil and tried to figure out what that long piece of metal attached to the quadrant lever was doing down there. I still don't know, but I wiggled something that felt like a lever down near the end of that long skinny piece link and it moved back and forth...it felt like it shifted into position. I pulled my muddy hand back out and cranked the engine and low and behold, the lift worked great. Can anybody explain to me what I did? And, will it stay that way? Thanks, Jim
