Are you talking about using the cross drawbar? If so, you need drawbar stays to keep the drawbar from lifting on you, and the factory setup included a drawbar extension, aka V-bar, to attach the ball to. You can get by with just the stays, but some then use a drawbar lock to keep the drawbar from spinning. Here is the full kit:
