I moved a lot of snow with a back blade and no feed or skids. My method was to spin the blade 180 degrees so that as I drove forward, the back side of the blade was moving the snow. That way the curve of the blade was not causing it to dig into my gravel drive. When moving snow on a paved surface, I would use the blade in the normal setting...using the concave side of the blade to move the snow.
