1946 2N Question

Just bought this a few years ago and I’m just now getting time to work on it. I was working on it today and discovered a hole just below the serial number, above the coolant drain cock,and to the left of the starter. Is there suppose to be a cap here and if so where can you order them? And what is the purpose of the hole?
