an alternative to the lamp is a 3 amp@50 volt or greater diode. Wire between #1 on alternator and ignition switch with marker band on diode toward alternator.

Or a 10 ohm 10 watt resistor wired as above. With resistor it doesn't matter which end is connected to either side.
