Holy Cow! I had thought maybe the gates kept the lever from coming out. Recently I had to rebuilt a horizontal shift rod in the transmission. I saw that the gates under the cover were worn, but not bad, so did not weld them up and make them good. Now that I know that the spring seat is not floating around, I'll run it like it is this winter, then take the cover off during warmer weather and check it out. However, what you are saying is exactly what is going on. The pin and slot in the stick are new. Thanks, Chy
