Tim,
Thank you so much for the information. I will get the manuals on order. On the 9N the starter has worked for years you can jump across the two posts on the starter and it will turn over. The button is sticky and when pushed will not return to the up position that is why I thought it was bad. There are no wires connected to the switch and it just unscrews from the housing I can take a photo of it if that would help me explain it better.
