My 1949 8N was converted to 12 volt by the previous owner. The alternator sits too far forward and the drive belt is misaligned. There is no way to move it back where it mounts to the governor housing. The alternator is a Delco-Remy 10SI model. I suspect the wrong part number alternator was put on this tractor. Is there a different 12 volt alternator used for the front mount distributor engine (mine) and the later side mounted distributor? What part number should I get? Currently my drive belt is riding too close for comfort to the spark plug wires and boots on the distributor due to the misalignment.
