I deciphered the serial number on the engine block enough to believe the engine is from a late 2N. That serial number starts with *9N299.... But further investigation reveals this:
I found a casting date of "G67" on the transmission tunnel housing, meaning a date of June 6, 1947. I found what I believe is the serial number on the left side of the transmission housing just forward of the PTO lever, of *8N402*, meaning it's an early 1947 8N. Only 401 were built in 1947 before this one. I'm sure with everything else I'm seeing this is indeed a 1947 8N.
