We've been blessed the past few years with winter in Michigan but it caught up to us in the past two days. It's been in single digits for the past week/10 days. Snowfall has been 2-4 inches at the most then it melts a day or two later. It was -20 °F and we had 10" of snow Monday night thru Tuesday noon. More snow coming tomorrow. We have been pretty lucky here in Michigan as I know a lot of folks out east and such have had 2-3 FEET of snow in the past few weeks. Losing power can be deadly in winter. Food won't spoil in the cold but when we lose heat, that is of great concern and unless you have a back-up generator, you will be SOL. Even if you use natural gas to heat your house, it won't work without electricity controlling the thermostat. A Catch 22 with the energy companies. Be safe. Don't attempt to shovel snow if your health is limited. Sadly, many kids today have no ambition and self esteem and go out to earn some money shoveling snow or cutting grass like we did. Check on the elderly especially if living alone.
