A complicated issue to be sure. I find myself more with TheOldHokie. Although I can appreciate the bravery and skill of many southern generals, the war was really about slavery and accordingly, their cause was unjust. And they should not be honored. Many, if not most of our founders recognized slavery as immoral and tried to deal with it when setting up the nation but it took the war and huge sacrifice on both sides to get it resolved. What a bad idea to bring people from another part of the world to live in a free country as slaves. Despite the emancipation, we keep paying for it over and over. Idiots like the BLM movement and folks like Sharpton and wonderful Maxine Waters keep it going for their own profit. I pray we someday get past this and learn to live with one another in relative peace.
