That would be funny if it were not so sad. The civil war did not start with a Federal invasion of the south. It started with an armed rebellion by South Carolina and an assault on Fort Sumter and existing federal properties by South Carolina militia. I won't question the gallantry of the brave men that fought for the CSA but their cause was utterly repugnant and there actions were treasonous in every definition of the word. Presidential pardons from Lincoln and Jackson is about all that kept them from the gallows.
