Elijah McCoy held 57 patents in his life. One was an automatic self-lubricator for steam engines. Others were the folding ironing board and the lawn sprinkler. McCoy was a Negro, born to runaway slave parents and ending up in Canada thru the underground railroad via Detroit and Windsor. He attended segregated schools –yep Canada had them too, bet you didn’t know that, as Canada has always attempted to bamboozle the world into thinking they were and are not racist. McCoy invented and worked on several railroad related projects. His lubricator gave us the term –“The Real McCoy”.
