I see your point...but...I live very close to several major hospitals. Benefits to employees are often in place of base pay and can be deducted by the employer as a business expense. Many people whom I know have paid health care through the hospital, with no deductibles, PLUS 401s with a matching contribution. One is/was for every $1 the employee put in, up to 5% of base income, the employer put in $2. What portion of my, my wife's or my children medical costs were impacted by these burden costs? I'm not begrudging these people but it is cost. Maybe the IRS is a contributor to these rising costs. Also, insurance providers are requiring use of generic drugs when available or the patient pays the difference. Generic drugs are NOT manufactured under the same quality controls, in China.
As a Medicare recipient, and paying for suplemental insurance, we get pressure to use generic drugs. Resent news articles of deaths from generic drugs made in China.
Lastly, once the government has control of our medical insurance/care is "Soylent Green" very far behind? Pessimistic? I hope so.
