Freedom of speech is one thing and so be it. Crude in public is another. My father and 40 years in the auto industry taught me language that makes a sailor blush. However, he also taught me respect for others in public. The "F" bomb in public, among other words, was a no no. But also, that I cannot impose my beliefs on someone else. I have incountered people who cannot speak without every other word being the "F" bomb. I just avoid them.
Many times inappropriate words have entered my mind when a situation occurs. The key for me is to refrain from using them. Not out of fear of repercussions but being able to not stoop to the same gutter as the offender. Not a superiority issue, just not shaming myself in public and possibly in front of my family.
