We have Kenmore washer and gas dryer in the laundry room (basement). This is our 3rd pair since 1972. They are working fine and my wife uses them from time to time for rugs or my work clothes. However, she has trouble with steps and I don't ever want to pick her up at the bottom of the steps again. (2 cracked vertebrae)
After that injury, I did plumbing for water and gas and drain for a Fridgedaire stackable washer/dryer in my office, which was a bedroom. It is directly across the hall from our bedroom/bathroom. She used it about 6 times and didn't like it.
So...I bought her a topload Speedqueen washer and a Speedqueen dryer. So far, she likes them. Kinda cramps me at my computer desk, but...
One problem with the dryer is that fabric softner sheets would end up in the lint filter. Now she pins them to a garment.
We sold the stackable to my son and daughter-in-law (about $400 less than we paid)
