Something to consider is if you have some walnuts probably so do the land owners that butt up to your property. If you talk to them and are will to sell some it might make it marketable for a timber guy to come down and give you a price. I have done this before with other land owners. 2012 I took out 150 trees other land owners 70 trees and 55 trees. All prices were separate but got better deal cause more trees, only one landing and didn't have to load and unload equipment to get to cause properties were adjoined. I know this is on a larger scale but combine if you can get 20 or 30 trees you might draw more interest. Also consider the small timber guy. I took out about 12 walnuts about 15 years ago. One guy, he had a 90hp john deere with a winch. Low impact on the property. Walnut was a good price then not sure how the market is now for it. Another option is to go to Ag center and talk to the forester there. They can recommend a logger who's not a fly by night. And make sure your logger is fully insured and get the paper work to prove it.
