Here in SE Iowa my farm had never been commercially harvested. I used a Forester (https://geodeforestry.com/foresters) to manage the sale.
He walked the land, marked and counted the trees, listed, advertised, and selected the buyer. Bob takes those trees who's removal would benefit the timber, are diseased or damaged. In other words make it a benefit to the timber.
Yes, I paid them a commission but it was well worth it. Did not have to worry about the character of the buyer or the terms of the sale.
