No, we do not have frequent outages. Those that we have had we survived by being conservative and sensible. So far, our longest outage has only been a couple of days.
We have natural gas (thus the generator) and city water. Hot water any time. Flush the toilet anytime. Take a shower anytime.
We have kept the living area (living room, dinning room and kitchen) at about 70 on the bitterest days by closing all other rooms, lighting 2 kerosene lamps and occassionally lite a gas range burner with a pan of water coming to a boil.
We have multiple flashlights around the house.
My 2 main concerns are if we are gone away and power is off for an extended time or if our health changes and we cannot do the things we do now.
