My other hobby is old guns, for some odd reason I find it relaxing to bring them back to life. This on is a Smith and Wesson Model of 1902 that I got at an auction. It was in such bad shape that no one would bid on it. The design changed in 1903 and it has a very low serial number, so this one really is a 1902 .38 Special. Of all the problems it had the biggest hurdle was the cylinder just plain worn out. I was able to find a used one from a Model 10-1 that was made in the early 1950's and fit it to the gun. Looks a little odd but it locks up tight and the timing is perfect now. And it can now handle +P ammunition.
Just need to find a good pair of grips and get it blued again and the old dog is ready for a trip to the range. Not bad for 117 years old.
