he Industrial Tool supply houses will stock quality tools -try MSC. The bargain house variety, cheena made crap is just that. For most applications in mild steel, non-hardened, HSS, TiN coated will work. The drill point is important too -got a good sharpening device? 118 drill point is standard. For harder materials, use a 135 Parabolic Carbide Drill. Drill/tool failure is caused by four things: 1) the wrong tool/drill itself; 2) the workpiece material; 3) the machine itself; and 4) the setup of the machine. What is your application? Are you hand drilling or using a lathe?
