Poor planning on the Japanese all in all. Most of the US fleet was not in port, they were out to sea. It was a Sunday so many servicemen were not on base. It's also been stated that at the time, Japanese military officials believed that every American owned a gun or three and therefore did not want to continue on to the west coast for fear they'd be exterminated. " TORA TORA TORA " is still one of favorite WWII movies having a third version now in my personal library. First it was a BETA tape for my SONY BETAMAX, then I moved into the VHS area so had to get a VHS tape, then a few years ago I got the DVD version.
