Check with your auto insurance company. I believe anything hooked to or in your vehicle is covered by your auto insurance. As for road assistance I've never carried any on anything, even my cars. Why?
"Stuff" does happen but, I keep newer tires and good brakes on my vehicles and trailers. I also have the proper hitch for the load and working lights, checked each time that I hook up.
Again, "stuff" happens. Even with insurance, that won't prevent "stuff" from happening. I have 3 trailers, none are campers at present. One is an old 6x8 snowmobile trailer that I use as a utility. One is an 8x18 10k flatbed equipment trailer and my newest one is a 24' 9.9k enclosed cargo trailer. My utility is due for new tires this year.
I do pay for personal property insurance. Am I pushing my luck at age 75? "Stuff" happens.
