My Medicare has taken a turn for the worse this past year or so. Three years ago I had a supplemental insurance, called Blue Cross MediGap. It costs me $122 per month extra out-of-pocket. I had several procedures in 2015 including three major operations and I paid ZERO out-of-pocket. The only service I had to pay for were my prescription co-pays upon my discharge. The following year, as OWEBUMMER CARE was initiated, I cancelled my MediGap as the rates would be increasing to over $300 per month -something I wouldn't be able to afford. And they called this 'affordable health care', remember? By 2017 I was going in for another major surgery and decided to re-instate the MediGap even if for only a few months just cover the hospital/doctor expenses, so I called Blue Cross and was told, sorry, that plan no longer exists. If I kept it, I would have grandfathered in, but no longer available to enter into. The options then were even more expensive than the increased MediGap rate. Since then I get bills for simple. routine stuff. I had a simple, routine follow-up office visit with my surgeon back in June, 2017. In April, 2018 I get a bill from his office for $250!!! WTF??? I am still fighting it. One thing is certain, our health care system sucks. It's set up so the doctors treat the symptoms not the disease and they are also in cahoots with the big pharmaceutical companies. Oh, yeah, believe it. Can't wait to see what happens in ten years when social security runs out (they're broke now) because not enough millenials are working and putting into it.
