Just a little insight on the subject. First I recall some 771's,not clear on the 671 but certainly there must be some out there. It was the dealers option to order their demonstrator in any series. Ford Tractor of course wanted to get the big horses out there like the 871 & 971's with weights and a 3 bottom plow. Reasoning behind this was that the dealer participating in the demo program was supposed to roam the countryside with the demo looking for a farmer plowing with a Deere or a Farmall etc, with the farmers permission they were to plow alongside the man showing how well the Fords and their 3 point plowed and likely could out perform them. Program was by no means a huge success. #1 most dealers were small and could not afford or even have a man for roaming nor the expensive use of demo. #2 how likely was it to find a farmer plowing with a Deere B, Farmall H or M or comparable competitor. #3, in reality who wanted a Gold colored Ford, Farmall also tried a similar program with a white demo, would a Deere owner want one not green? Many dealers initally did not order a Gold so some bigger dealers snapped up original production when available as there was a purchase incentive too. At the time there were about 3200 Ford Tractor dealers. I recall in an August Dealer Relations Dept meeting a big push was on to get the hold outs to order a Gold. One rep said he had Gold orders but could not place them as they did not want the SOS. At this point Mr Thompson the dept head got very vocal saying "And why not they can order them any D__n way they want to". If any did who knows but at least the option was open.
