What are you wanting to do with it? Are you looking for something you can carry in you're pocket or something to take great photos. The quality of the lens is what counts. Cell phones and Ipads are ok if you are not looking for quality photos. I have a old Kodak Z710 with a glass lens over one inch in diameter. It takes really great photos. It makes ipad and cell phones photos look like toilet paper. I have taken over 4000 photos with it. I also have a coupe small cameras like you're Coolpix. they take a lot better photo also than Ipads or cell phones. I doubt you want to spend the money for a SLR camera, but if you want to do some serious photography, that is the way to go. I would also say to look for a camera with macro. Macro work rely good for taking close up photos of small parts, flowers, etc.
