I place Mr. Leffingwell and Mr. Robert Pripps at the top as the most thoroughly researched authors on Ford Tractors, all others are not even on the same playing field. I know Mr.Harold Brock and Mr. Charles Sorensen both mention the same thing in their books as well. Henry Ford wanted them to LOOK at the Mercury V8 and other Ford parts already in the pipeline. That is what they are saying. If there is evidence to the contrary, let's see the data. There is a photo of the first early 9N with all kinds of Ford parts that were currently in use. Look at the generator for example. It has the round-can cutout mounted on the barrel. Ford 9N engineers scrapped it favor of producing it's own generator with a voltage regulator that WAS already in production on the '38 Deluxe. Heck, John, even the 1937 V8 Prototype used an engine that was currently in production, the Model 51 221 cu/in 80 HP V8 as well as numerous other production parts.
