Nice article Dan, very interesting. From my recollections the truck 4's had much the same distributor as the tractor. Military had the angle drive elevated water proof distributor. Truck distributor was not a problem to mechanics of the day. I had a 1937 Ford car with the V-8, distributor was way down in front, had two caps, two sets of points and twice the wires as the 4. The 8 distributors were not the most robust, flooded fairly easily and required frequent maintenance. I ran mine with the side panels removed so I could get in there easier. Also right there in the story is the frequently appearing myth that the N engine is half of a Merc V8, wish I knew who started that one.
