Thanks to both of you,1st, Bruce that is somewhat like what the Haines manual is showing,but as Stump Blasters is saying it totally goes against what is normal timing chain installation. But what you posted confirms what the manual is showing. Since I wasn't the one tearing engine down I don't have a visual image in my mind to refer to.I really want to get this right, my friend spent a lot of money on this that he really doesn't have, the Jeep is a family heirloom so it is special to him. I'll go ahead and install it that way and then turn it over by hand on the engine stand and check every thing. If it is wrong it is better to find it that way than after it is in the vehicle. If wrong in the vehicle it could bend push rods,break or bend valves and even break the tops of pistons. It will be next Wednesday before I can get back on it, I'll post back as what the outcome is.
