A friend brought his 1983 AMC jeep 360cid v8 engine over to me in several boxes and ask me to help reassemble it. He sent the engine out to a shop 6, months ago to get it rebuilt, all they did was disassemble it cook it out and never touched it again.I've done several engines but never one of these. So far with the help of a Haines manual I've got it mostly put back together. But I'm stumped on the timing chain, most engines you line up the dots on the crank gear and timing gears at 6 oclock and 12 oclock, but the manual seems to say that the crank gear dot goes on the bottom at 6 oclock but the cam gear dot goes at 3 oclock with 20 chain pins between the dots. I've looked all over the internet for information to find if this is correct or not. Are any of you guys familiar with these engines or know where I can find the information I need.HELP!!!!!!!!, God Bless, Beth and Allen.
